Children can spot a task pretending to be a game a mile off. That’s why the challenges here are tied to the story: they appear exactly where Ava and Cocco get stuck themselves, and they’re about what the reader has just read.
Solve them, and the story moves on. That’s the reward. Not points, not stars.
It’s not a geography lesson. But children come away with a world that feels like their own: countries they’ve been to, words they know, people they’ve met.
Crosswords built from words in the chapters you’ve just read. If you get stuck, you’ll find the answer in Cocco’s Encyclopedia.
The same riddles Ava has to solve. Readers get them at the same moment she does, with just as little to go on.
Some are solved with the app: a picture to zoom in on, a barcode to scan, a word to translate. Others just need a pencil, a sharp eye or a little patience.
Some games are about the country in the book, others are just for fun. Play alone, with friends and family, or with fans around the world.
In development. The challenges are being built alongside the app and Book 1. Some will also be freely available here on the site.
